Why Native Plants are Essential to Wildlife Diversity

Native plant species are essential to the ecosystem and the birds, bees, butterflies that we love to see.

Almost all of our songbirds rely on insect caterpillars to feed their young, and it takes thousands of caterpillars to successfully raise a brood of chicks.

The insects that birds depend on for nesting success need the native plants they evolved with.

All the beautiful non-native ornamental plants in our neighborhoods simply don’t support the native ecosystem.
